Create your own ecoteam

Do you want to save money, reduce your carbon footprint and have fun getting to know your neighbours a little better this winter? Why not set up or join an EcoTeam? Set up by Global Action Plan, the EcoTeam’s programme is designed to help households make improvements across a wide range of consumption activities including energy use, transport, water, waste and shopping. Teams of around 6-8 people meet every month for 5 months to discuss and implement practical ideas within their households. In the past, households have saved an average of £170 on their annual energy bills, reduced their carbon footprint by 17% and made some new friends as well.

If you want to get involved, either to organise a team or to join a local team near you, it’s simple. Just visit http://www.ecoteams.org.uk/, where you can find all the resources you need to get going. Alternatively, Sustainable Redhill is also involved in organising groups across the Redhill and Reigate area, including a local councillors group, so you are welcome to join one of these groups if you want to. Please email Rob Basto on EcoTeams@SustainableRedhill.org.uk to find out more.

And just to add an extra dimension, we’ll also be running a competition to find out the Redhill/Reigate team which has reduced its consumption the most – prizes to be confirmed at a later date!
